The Ford and Salem State Together program brings a group
of 60 students from Ford to the main campus of Salem
State one afternoon a week for six weeks each semester.
At Salem State, the students get exposure to enrichment
activities - currently computers, arts and crafts,
health and fitness and Project Adventure - and also exposure to the idea of
what a typical college campus is all about. This
experience encourages students to work towards college
as a goal. In many cases, the Salem State
Experience serves as an introduction to college not only
for the students, but for entire families. The
FASST program provides a slice of campus culture for
families - kids and parents alike observe classes,
school chorus, college basketball games and learn about
life on a college campus. Students learning
English also benefit, as the FASST program extends the
amount of time and number of settings in which they are
immersed in an English - only environment.
